Connecting Your Device
PCs, Laptops and Mobile Phones
PCs, laptops and mobile devices should connect to the BarryUWireless network. Simply select the BarryUWireless network and enter your username and password. The BarryUWireless network is optimized for speed, access, and overall performance compared to the BUGuest network.
Gaming, Media and Other Devices
Devices such as Xboxes, Playstations, Roku streaming sticks, Amazon Fire Sticks, Apple TVs, smart TVs and wireless printers have no interface to authenticate with a username and password. Follow the steps below to register them and connect them to the network.
Using the Guest Network
We have created a second network called BUGuest for visitors such as friends, parents, and other users to access the Internet while on campus temporarily. When initially connecting, there is a consent page similar to those you see when connecting to other guest networks. Gaming, media, or other devices connected to the guest wifi have no ability to acknowledge consent, and need to be registered using the mydevice.barry.edu page. The BarryUWireless network is optimized for speed, access, and overall performance compared to the BUGuest network, so students and employees should connect to the BarryUWireless network.
Smartphones and Wifi Calling
Due to building construction, some locations on campus may experience suboptimal cellular connectivity. Smartphones should be configured to enable Wifi Calling, which will allow calls to be placed and received over the wireless Internet connection, as opposed to using the cellular connection.
