How-to for non-instructional technologies

This service offers assistance with university supported non-instructional technology applications and demos on a variety of technology subjects.

 

What is included

  • Custom Group: training is offered to two or more individuals to maximize efficiency as well as delivering similar information to larger groups. Groups may request customized topics, formats for instruction, days/times, and locations for training.
  • Tutorials: training focuses on specific learning and training objectives that match an individuals current skills and desired abilities. Training is customized and planned between a subject area expert and the requester.
  • Demonstrations:  examples of software, applications, hardware, trends in higher-ed technology and custom requested topics.
  • Orientations: demonstration and training for new students 

Exclusions/Non-Standard Features

Technology Training is available to Barry University employees only.

Instructional Technologies:  Canvas, ExamSoft, Respondus Lockdown Browser, Repondus 4.0 (Test Generator), Turnitin, Adobe Connect

Nonstandard features:

  • request for training from departments for work-study students/graduate assistants
  • requests from academic units/faculty for classes
  • requests from university vendors and non-employee associates
  • requests for hardware training
  • requests for training on non-university wide software and applications

Who receives this service

  • Faculty, staff, students based on department request

Service Level Agreement

  • Respond in 1 business day, sscheduling of this service within 5 business days

What happens next

A member of the Division of Information Technology will contact you to schedule training or answer any questions you have. All training is led by certified instructors or subject matter experts. Training may take place in Library 301. It has 17 computer stations with videoconference technology, SMART technology, and AirMedia. Training conducted via videoconferencing uses Adobe Connect. Tutorials are offered in a trainer's office. Custom Group and Demonstrations may take place in a variety of locations based on request.
