Microsoft Office for free for students, faculty and staff!

Barry University is providing Microsoft Office to every student, faculty and staff free of charge!! As long as you're a student, faculty and staff here at Barry University, you will be able to use the software for free, and take advantage of the following:

To get Microsoft Office, follow these simple steps:

For PC and Mac:

  1. Log into Outlook on the web barrymail.barry.edu, click the app launcher in the upper left-hand corner  and then click Office 365 .
     
  2. Click Install Office > Office 365 apps.

     
  3. A file downloads to your computer. Once the file has finished downloading, click the file and go through the installation steps.

     
  4. After Office 365 ProPlus has finished installing you need to sign in to Office with your Barry email account.
  • Windows: Click Start > My Office.  Open any app (e.g., Word), click Accept and start <program name>.
  • Mac: Open your Applications folder and click  a Microsoft app (e.g., Microsoft Word.app). In the application name menu (e.g., Word) click Activate Office. Sign in with your Stanford email address and click Next.  Authenticate using two-step authentication.

Tip   After installing, you can start to use Word, Excel, and the other Office applications. If you can't find the applications, learn how to find the Office applications that you just installed.

Update:  Office apps for Android will no longer be supported on Chromebooks

Microsoft 365 announced on August 23, 2021, through in-app messaging, for Office apps for Android (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Union, OneNote and Outlook) on Chromebooks that the apps will no longer be available in the Google Play store. Users will be able to access Microsoft 365 from the web.

Note: This change does not affect Android devices.

If you are using Office apps for Android on Chromebooks, these apps will no longer receive updates beginning November 1, 2021. Additionally, you will not be able to download Office apps for Android on Chromebooks once they have been removed from the Google Play store.

Note: Existing Office apps for Android installations will continue to function but will not receive updates or security fixes.
