OneDrive for Business

OneDrive for Business is Microsoft’s cloud-based file storage and sharing service. OneDrive for Business is a collaboration tool where you can securely store, share and sync your documents across all your devices, and access them anywhere, at any time, both online and offline. You can also save Word/Excel/PowerPoint online documents into your own OneDrive space. These documents can be edited directly in the browser.

Employees should ensure their work data is stored in OneDrive for Business, and not exclusively on their local PC.

How is OneDrive for Business different from OneDrive?

·         OneDrive for Business is a web storage service intended for work-related use at the university. You can use it to share files with colleagues and to process content together with others.

·         OneDrive is a personal web storage space offered free of charge. You can gain access to it through your Microsoft account or Outlook.com (personal accounts). You can use OneDrive for storing documents, photos and other files in a cloud service, share them with your friends and even process the content together.

Benefits

·         More Storage: Each user will have 1 TB

·         Securely store all your files

·         Share files internally with other employees: OneDrive for Business is designed for unrestricted control by one person. The owner can keep all files private and choose to share specific files or folders to just one person, a group of people, or to everyone.

·         Share files with partners, vendors, or third parties

A user can easily share files with external guests simply by providing the party’s email address.

·         Work on documents offline to stay productive even when disconnected from the Internet

Using sync capabilities, you can work on a document while offline and save the file to a working folder on your local pc. When you are reconnected to the Internet, the updated file will automatically sync to your OneDrive for Business library.

·         Access from anywhere: You will be able to access your files and folders anywhere via web browser, windows desktop sync, native OneDrive for Business apps on Windows 8 and iOS, Office Mobile apps on Windows Phone, iPhone, and Android Phone

OneDrive for Business Sync Client

No Internet? No Problem. Files you save to OneDrive for Business are available online and offline on your PC using the OneDrive for Business Sync Client. For those users with laptops, that means you can use them anytime, even when you’re not connected to the internet. When you reconnect, OneDrive updates the online versions with changes you made offline. Offline files come in handy when you’re stuck with out Wi-Fi.
