Updating Multi-Factor Authentication Settings for Office 365

You can add additional verification methods or modify your verification method settings for Office 365 MFA (e.g. if you were to change your phone number). We recommend using multiple types of verification methods (e.g. text, phone call, Microsoft Authenticator application) to ensure you are able to use MFA in case any issues are encountered on the primary method you picked.

To add or make changes to your MFA settings, navigate to the MFA setup application or open an internet browser and go to https://aka.ms/mfasetup. If you are not already signed in with your account, the page will prompt you to log in. On the “Security info” page, make any needed additions or changes.

  • Change your Default sign-in method: click Change.
  • Add, remove or update a phone number: select the country code, enter the correct phone number and extension if applicable
  • Delete or add an authenticator app: click the desired action button and follow the prompts
