Using the Quality Assurance Checklist

Using the Quality Assurance Checklist

Overview

The BarryU Online Quality Assurance Checklist is a tool faculty can use to identify and address issues related to accuracy, functionality, accessibility, grading, and the student experience, regardless of modality. Faculty are encouraged to use this checklist to ensure their Canvas courses are ready for students before the start of the semester.

How to Use the Checklist

Download the Quality Assurance Checklist

Open your Canvas course and work through each section of the checklist. Indicate whether each item has been met by selecting Yes, No, or N/A, as appropriate. Use the comments field to document any relevant notes. If you identify any issues, make the necessary updates before the course begins.

Use the checklist to review the following areas of your Canvas course:

  1. Course Content: Verify syllabus details, assignment dates, instructions and remove placeholder language.
  2. Navigation Menu: Remove unused navigation items.
  3. Getting Started Module: Confirm that textbook resources and proctoring information are accurate.
  4. Accessibility: Check that images include meaningful alt text and uploaded documents are accessible.
  5. Assessments and Grading: Ensure Gradebook point values and assignment weights align with the syllabus.
  6. Student Experience: Use Student View to review the course from the student perspective.
