Group owners are responsible for maintaining the membership of their email groups and ensuring that access remains appropriate for University business needs.
Why Access Reviews Are Important
Regular access reviews help the University:
- Maintain accurate access permissions.
- Reduce security and compliance risks.
- Identify inactive or orphaned groups.
- Support audit and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure accountability for group ownership and membership.
Access Reviews
As part of Barry University's ongoing security and compliance efforts, periodic access reviews may be conducted for technology groups.
If you are a group owner, you may receive an email requesting that you review and approve or deny group memberships. If you are a group member, you may be asked to confirm that your access is still required.
Reviews are completed through the Microsoft My Access Portal.

Manage Group Membership
As a group owner, you should regularly review membership to ensure users have the appropriate level of access.
You can view and manage all groups you're a member of. If you're an owner of a group, you can also edit group information, renew groups that are about to expire, approve new members, remove members, and make a member an Owner.
When reviewing membership:
- Approve users who still require access.
- Remove users who no longer need access.
- Verify that group ownership information is current.
- Ensure access aligns with business and operational needs.
Manage group membership is completed through the My Groups Portal.
